Friendly Agreement

Welcome to BETTER  BOUNDARIES! I am so happy to be with you in this program.

This area of my website was created just for us, and will be kept just for us. By registering for this program, you're agreeing to maintain the privacy of our Writers Haven (which is where you are now). The Writers Haven disappears when the program ends.

A safe space is the foundation of your success in this program. In order for this to be a safe space for you and everyone else, we all need to maintain the privacy of our Writers Haven.

To paraphrase a common saying, what happens in our Writers Haven stays in our Writers Haven. You'll bring all your healing and insight into your life and you'll have your daily heart-writes. Everything else stays here. That helps everyone feel safe to share.

Let's agree not to cite anyone or anyone's comments outside this private space. What's shared here, stays here. Please don't quote anything directly from any of the program articles, which are written specifically for this program and not published elsewhere. Also, don't cite comments made by the other participants or by me. Clear?

BTW if you ever want to quote me, you're welcome to cite anything I've published online or in print, such medical articles, blog posts, and my book — or ask if you have something specific in mind. I'll do my best to accommodate you.

A final part of our agreement is that you agree not to run this program in the future or another program based on BETTER BOUNDARIES.

Your participation is essential & totally up to you

In this sweet, private womb, we are incubating, and I'll do everything possible to help you feel nourished. Approach this program with a self-reflective practice orientation rather than as an academic class.

Please participate by sharing your process and insights as much as is comfortable for you. Your actual heart-writing, however, is for your eyes alone. You don't post your heart-writing in the group, other than any snippets you might weave into your comments. Keeping your heart-writing to yourself helps you feel less inhibited when writing, which helps you get more from the program.

Please take responsibility for your participation by going at your own pace, staying committed to your self care, experiencing emotions as they arise, and communicating your needs.

And most important, place your hands for spiritual practice — either self Reiki or meditation — before every heart-write session.

In order to write from your heart, you need to first drop into your heart. That's what happens during your spiritual practice session. I offer a recorded meditation for anyone who'd like to use it. The link is in the nav bar at the top.

I'll share relevant, timely perspective from my experience, as seems useful, but please keep in mind this is an interactive program rather than a didactic class. While I will share articles I've written exclusively for this program, disseminating knowledge isn't my main goal.

Rather, I've created a support structure in which you can grow through your own effort and practice, developing a process of inner exploration and discovery that you'll have to continue growing for the rest of your life.

Why are you here?

Have you contemplated your goal for BETTER BOUNDARIES? The clearer you are about your goal, the more motivated you will be to make the effort needed to accomplish it. I can only build the structure and offer coaching; your effort is what makes it come alive for you.

I want to help you become a clearer, stronger, happier version of yourself. That's my goal for you!

The greatest common good is built on the greatest benefit for each individual. You are in control of what benefit you create for yourself in this sandbox. I just build the sandbox and tend it.

You're the final arbiter of what is meaningful to you.

Does that all make sense? Are we on the same page? (Yes, I'm not above a pun!)

If not, I'm here for clarification. Our guidelines protect the safety of shared space and help us create healthy, effective communication habits, so needed for maintaining healthy, compassionate boundaries.

Let's go deep.
Let's have fun.
Let's love and respect ourselves and one another.
